Camelia Hotel Southend

Excellent stay with lovely sea views I stayed at the Camelia Hotel for work during a gloomy January and was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience. The room was immaculate – spotlessly clean with a large window offering a great view of the sea. Bathroom has obviously been upgraded and that too was excellent. Even in typical January weather, the outlook was pleasant and added to the stay. The bar area deserves special mention. Special nod to Liam and his colleague (apologies I can't recall her name) but they were efficient and friendly. It's a brilliant space where you can have a chat with fellow travellers in a relaxed atmosphere. Furthermore, there's free parking round the back, which is always appreciated. Breakfast was spot on, with both cooked and continental options available. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. I'd happily recommend the Camelia Hotel to anyone visiting Southend. Good value and a comfortable base for exploring the area.

Lovely hotel, very friendly attentive staff and food was fabulous both dinner and breakfast. Cocktails were perfect. The location with the parking available added to our visit. Will definitely return

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for the weekend, and it was genuinely a lovely experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel completely at home. The food was amazing, and the rooms were just as impressive — comfortable, clean, and beautifully presented. We did have a slight issue with our room initially, but it was handled swiftly and professionally. We were even upgraded to a superior room without having to ask, which was such a thoughtful touch. A special thank you to Sara — you were so lovely and truly made our stay even more enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway with your partner. We’ll definitely be back!

We have stayed here before, and once again we were not disappointed. The choice of menu was excellent for breakfast and also evening meal something for everyone. The room was Clean and tidy with coffee and tea provided. All staff were friendly and Service was good. We will definitely be back.

We had an afternoon tea so I am unable to say of the rooms are 5 stars or not, but the food was lovely and fresh. Exactly what you would expect and more! Service was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing Would definitely have another afternoon tea here.

We held my mother's wake here. The room was laid out really well. The food was great and the service excellent. Arranging the venue and menu was very easy and dealt with compassionately. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you all.

A wonderful place. The food was absolutely fantastic. I've stayed in lots of hotels for work and without a doubt this was the best Full English I've ever had. The staff were all really friendly and made the stay. Everything is very clean and comfortable, there is free off-street parking (which is a huge plus in Southend) and you are right opposite the beach. Thoroughly recommend.

My double room booked as a single was modern and stylish. Bed very comfortable. Great large shower. No biscuits to go with the tea - disappointing. There were a few things which weren't quite right when I arrived - my first night's sleep was delayed due to the bathroom light switch and extractor being connected and obviously faulty. The extractor noise continued for 45 minutes after I switched the bathroom light off. Also the TV remote didn't switch the TV off; and the bathroom heated towel rail was cold. There was blue oily stuff dripping from the bottom right pipe too. Everything was put right very quickly the next morning. My full breakfast was really delicious. Staff were really helpful and friendly.
